The first week of school is coming to an end tomorrow which means Follow Friday is upon us again. Click the link below for the blog hop list hosted by Simply Stacie!
I have to say the first week of school was a success...with only a few minor hiccups. First, I realize how incredibly busy we will be this year. Between footballl practices on Mondays and Wednesdays, cheer on Tues and Thurs, football games on Saturdays and cheer competitions and extra practices sprinkled in on the weekends in between, I'm not sure I will have a dull moment. Not only does tomorrow wrap up the last day of the week, it is also "school lunch day" which means I'm off the hook for preparing lunches! Woo hoo! I have to admit, I've been pretty proud of myself this past week for waking up before the kids and getting their breakfasts on the table. Usually this part of the year really disrupts my fondness of late night quiet time and a gradual wake-up process. But this year has been suprisingly different. Let's hope it doesn't wear off! ;)
The only other hiccup I have to report is the freaking car pool line at school. Our school has a policy that the older kids will always join the younger kids in their pick up locations. This means my 3rd grader (with the well-seasoned car pool parents) joins my son in the Kindergarten pick up area (with the rookie car pool parents). Now, I know we all started somewhere and I can totally accept that this is a learning process. However, when the school sends info home with the traffic pattern and flow highlighted for each particular grade, I have a hard time forgiving ignorance or stupidity. Common sense would tell you not to get out of your car, not to pop the trunk so your kids can heave their backpacks in, and not to just stop in the line after you've picked up your kid and hold up all the traffic behind you. I mean, would you stop in the drive thru lane to send a text message after you've checked your bag with cars behind you? No. Move! All I kept thinking about was the Mr. Mom scene when he keeps getting yelled at by the traffic lady at his kids' school. By the end of the movie though, he was a pro, and telling other people the right way in and the right way out. I will be patient because I realize this is a process and is new to most of these parents. All I ask is they use some of their common sense! :)
