Tuần trước, các nhà nghiên cứu đã phát hiện thấy xu hướng khác về phần mềm độc hại nhắm tới smartphone hoạt động trên hệ điều hành Android của Google. Ứng dụng này không chỉ ghi lại chi tiết về các cuộc gọi đến và đi từ điện thoại mà còn có thể ghi lại nội dung cuộc gọi đó.

Vụ việc này xảy ra một tháng sau khi các nhà nghiên cứu khám phá lỗ hổng trên điện thoại iPhone của Apple. Do đó, chính phủ Đức đã cảnh báo người dùng Apple về sự cấp bách của mối đe dọa này.
Các chuyên gia bảo mật có biết, các cuộc tấn công trên smartphone đang phát triển nhanh chóng và trở nên tinh vi hơn trong việc phát triển các kỹ thuật mới. Trong nhiều thập kỷ qua, các phần mềm độc hại đã hoành hành trên hệ thống máy tính nhưng giờ đây, chúng đã nhanh chóng chuyển sang smartphone khi thiết bị này đang trở thành một phần quan trọng trong cuộc sống hằng ngày.
Khoảng 38% người trưởng thành ở Mỹ sở hữu iPhone, BlackBerry hoặc điện thoại thoại hoạt động trên Android, Windows hoặc WebOS, theo dữ liệu của Nielsen. Con số này tăng 6% so với năm 2007. - Hãng bảo mật Lookout cho biết, họ đã phát hiện hàng nghìn mầm mống lây nhiễm mỗi ngày trên điện thoại di động sử dụng phần mềm bảo mật của họ. Hồi tháng Giêng, con số này chỉ vào khoảng vài trăm. Như vậy, số mầm độc hại được phát hiện tăng gần đấp đôi mỗi tháng. Khoảng 1 triệu người đã bị mã độc di động tấn công chỉ trong nửa đầu năm 2011.
- Google đã loại bỏ khoảng 100 ứng dụng độc hại khỏi kho ứng dụng. Một trong những ứng dụng độc hại được tải về khoảng 260.000 lần trước khi bị gỡ bỏ. Android là hệ điều hành smartphone phổ biến nhất trên thế giới với hơn 135 triệu người dùng trên toàn cầu.
- Symantec, nhà sản xuất phần mềm bảo mật lớn nhất trên thế giới cũng nhìn thấy tốc độ gia tăng chóng mặt này. Năm ngoái, công ty nhận dạng được khoảng 5 mẫu mã độc tấn công Android. Năm nay con số này đã tăng lên 19 loại mã độc. Tuy nhiên, con số này vẫn chẳng đáng kể so với hàng trăm nghìn loại mã độc tấn công PC mỗi năm nhưng các chuyên gia cho rằng, đó chỉ là vấn đề thời gian trước khi tội phạm mạng đuổi kịp xu hướng đó.
Đặc biệt khi số lượng smartphone đang bùng nổ mạnh. Theo hãng nghiên cứu thị trường IDC dự đoán rằng, khoảng 472 triệu smartphone sẽ được xuất xưởng trong năm nay, trong khi đó lượng máy tính bán ra chỉ khoảng 362 triệu. Do đó, những nguy cơ hiện nay đối với máy tính sẽ được chuyển sang cho smartphone và khiến chúng bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề. Vì người dùng di động vẫn chưa mấy quan tâm tới vấn đề bảo mật trên di động.
