New Iraqi govt. will be formed soon: ambassador

TEHRAN, The Iranian ambassador to Iraq has expressed optimism that a new Iraqi government will be formed in the near future.

The formation of a new government in Iraq is a necessity, and efforts are being made to facilitate the process, Ambassador Hassan Danaiifar told the ISNA news agency on Monday.

He said that it is likely that a new government will be formed by the end of the lunar month of Ramadan, which will occur on September 9 or 10, depending on the sighting of the new moon.

The ambassador stated that Iran and Iraq have good political relations and are making efforts to boost their economic ties.

An Iranian delegation visited Bagdad last week to negotiate with the Iraqis over various joint oil and gas projects and a committee was set up to oversee the technical aspects of the projects, he added.
